NONTONNEWS.COM - Baim Wong kembali ke dunia perfilman, namun kali ini bukan sebagai aktor. Dalam film terbarunya berjudul Lembayung, Baim Wong mengambil langkah berani dengan menjadi sutradara untuk pertama kalinya. Meski ini merupakan debutnya di kursi sutradara, Baim terlihat sangat optimis dengan hasil karyanya. Ia mengungkapkan bahwa Lembayung, yang dibintangi oleh deretan aktor papan atas seperti Anna Jobling, Arya Saloka, Oka Antara, Yasamin Jasem, hingga Taskya Namya, akan tayang di luar negeri, termasuk Malaysia, negara asal Anna Jobling.
Film Lembayung dijadwalkan rilis di bioskop Indonesia pada 19 September 2024. Cerita film ini diadaptasi dari thread viral tahun 2022 berjudul "Diganggu Jin Poli Gigi." Baim Wong pun memberikan bocoran menarik bahwa film debutnya ini sudah siap tayang di 6 negara. Tidak hanya itu, ada juga ketertarikan dari Hollywood untuk menayangkan film Lembayung di sana.
"Yang menyenangkannya adalah sudah ada 6 negara yang akan menayangkan Lembayung. Bahkan, saya sempat dihubungi seseorang dari Hollywood. Mereka sudah dengar tentang film ini dan tertarik setelah saya memperlihatkan cuplikan filmnya," ungkap Baim di gala premier Lembayung yang digelar di XXI Epicentrum, Jakarta, Jumat (13/9/2024).
Meskipun negosiasi dengan Hollywood masih belum final, Baim Wong menjelaskan bahwa minat tersebut datang karena cara uniknya membungkus film horor ini dengan sentuhan drama dan thriller. "Mereka tertarik dengan pengambilan gambar dan bagaimana saya menggabungkan elemen horor dengan emosi yang mendalam, hingga membuat penonton bisa menangis. Itu yang menurut mereka jarang terjadi di genre horor," tambah Baim.
Salah satu daya tarik internasional dari Lembayung adalah kehadiran Anna Jobling sebagai pemeran hantu Tantri. Dengan kepopuleran Anna di Malaysia, Baim Wong memastikan bahwa Malaysia adalah salah satu dari 6 negara yang akan menayangkan film ini. Menurut Baim, empat distributor besar Malaysia sudah menghubunginya karena melihat potensi besar dari film ini.
"Malaysia yang pertama menghubungi saya. Ada empat distributor besar yang tertarik karena Anna Jobling sedang sangat populer di sana," ujar Baim.
Baim Wong juga memiliki harapan besar agar Lembayung bisa dikenal dan diterima oleh penonton luar negeri. Sebagai upaya untuk memperkuat identitas film Indonesia di mata dunia, Baim memasukkan elemen unik seperti tren "Om Telolet Om", yang pernah viral secara global. Elemen ini menjadi ciri khas dalam film Lembayung.
"Kenapa ada telolet? Karena saya ingin ketika film ini tayang di luar negeri, orang bisa langsung mengenali bahwa ini adalah film buatan Indonesia," jelas Baim Wong.
Tidak hanya menjadi debut sutradara bagi Baim, Lembayung juga akan menjadi film debut bagi istrinya, Paula Verhoeven, dan putranya, Kiano Tiger Wong. Film ini siap menyapa penonton di bioskop Indonesia pada 19 September mendatang. Siapa yang sudah tidak sabar menonton?
