Tantangan semakin besar dengan kehadiran rekan setim barunya, Marc Marquez, juara dunia delapan kali yang terkenal dengan gaya balap agresif.
“Saya memiliki rekan satu tim baru yang sangat kompetitif. Bersama Marc, kami bisa membawa pengembangan motor ke level yang lebih tinggi,” ungkap Bagnaia melalui laman resmi Ducati, Rabu (22/1).
Meski demikian, Bagnaia berjanji untuk tetap mengutamakan semangat fair play. “Musim ini akan lebih menuntut, dan saya akan menghadapinya dengan mentalitas yang sama seperti biasanya. Saya tidak ingin bergantung pada keberuntungan semata,” tegas pembalap asal Italia tersebut.
Optimisme Bagnaia tidak lepas dari hasil positif yang diraih tim Ducati dalam sesi uji coba di Barcelona beberapa bulan lalu. Dia merasa semakin percaya diri dengan performanya di atas motor. “Saya banyak belajar dan mencoba memaksimalkan setiap situasi. Uji coba pertama setelah GP di Barcelona memberikan hasil yang sangat positif,” tambahnya.
Tetap Teguh pada Prinsip
Meskipun menghadapi rekan setim yang dikenal tak ragu mengambil risiko besar di lintasan, Bagnaia menegaskan komitmennya untuk tetap bersaing secara sehat. Bahkan, ia menolak arahan dari manajer tim Ducati, Davide Tardozzi, untuk mengadopsi pendekatan “pragmatik” dalam perebutan gelar juara dunia MotoGP 2024 melawan Jorge Martin.
“Bagi saya, persaingan yang sehat adalah kunci. Jika Marc Marquez ingin menjadi tokoh antagonis, saya tidak masalah. Saya tetap akan bersaing dengan prinsip yang saya pegang,” tutupnya.
Musim 2025 akan menjadi ujian besar bagi Bagnaia, tidak hanya untuk mempertahankan status juara, tetapi juga untuk menunjukkan bahwa prinsip fair play tetap bisa membawa kesuksesan di tengah persaingan sengit MotoGP.
