Perusahaan, yang baru saja meluncurkan iPhone generasi terbarunya, menegaskan iphone 12 aman dan ponsel tersebut telah disertifikasi di negara-negara seluruh dunia sejak diperkenalkan pada tahun 2020. Dikatakan masalah yang diangkat oleh badan pemerintah Prancis yang mengelola frekuensi komunikasi nirkabel adalah "terkait dengan protokol pengujian tertentu."
Badan asal Prancis tersebut mengatakan iPhone 12 baru-baru ini gagal dalam salah satu dari dua jenis pengujian gelombang elektromagnetik yang mampu diserap oleh tubuh. Pada hari Selasa, pemerintah Prancis memerintahkan penghentian penjualan iPhone 12 dan meminta Apple untuk mengeluarkan pembaruan perangkat lunak (update software) untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut atau menghadapi penarikan kembali.
Apple mengatakan dalam sebuah pernyataan pada hari Jumat bahwa mereka "akan mengeluarkan pembaruan perangkat lunak untuk pengguna di Perancis untuk mengakomodasi protokol yang digunakan oleh regulator Perancis."
