NONTONNEWS.COM - Baru-baru ini, sebuah artikel yang mengklaim bahwa terdapat gua besar kosong di bawah ibu kota Kuala Lumpur menjadi viral. Artikel tersebut dikaitkan dengan insiden tragis di mana seorang wanita India, Vijayalakshmi, 48 tahun, tertelan oleh lubang yang tiba-tiba terbuka di jalanan Kuala Lumpur.
Namun, Universiti Malaya (UM) segera membantah klaim yang beredar tersebut. Ketua Jurusan Geologi Fakultas Sains UM, Associate Prof. Dr. Meor Hakif Amir Hassan, menjelaskan bahwa artikel tersebut diduga ditulis oleh seseorang yang mengaku sebagai ahli geologi UM bernama Dr. Sarah Jamal.
"Kami ingin menegaskan bahwa tidak ada seorang pun bernama Dr. Sarah Jamal yang bertugas di UM. Nama tersebut juga tidak terdaftar dalam Dewan Geologi Malaysia," jelas Dr. Meor dalam pernyataan resmi yang dipublikasikan di halaman Facebook UM.
Lebih lanjut, Dr. Meor menambahkan bahwa isi artikel tersebut tidak didasarkan pada fakta yang benar dan mengandung kesalahan informasi. "Staf Departemen Geologi UM selalu berhati-hati dalam memberikan komentar terkait kejadian seperti ini, terutama karena operasi pencarian dan penyelamatan (SAR) serta penyelidikan dari pihak berwenang masih berlangsung," ujarnya.
Sementara itu, insiden yang melibatkan Vijayalakshmi terjadi pada hari Jumat, sekitar pukul 08.25 pagi, ketika ia terjatuh ke dalam lubang yang tiba-tiba terbuka di tanah kosong saat berjalan dari Selangor Mansion menuju Wisma Yakin. Hingga saat ini, penyebab pasti dari kejadian tersebut masih dalam penyelidikan.
