NONTONNEWS.COM - Honda, salah satu produsen mobil terkemuka asal Jepang, telah mengonfirmasi rencana ambisius untuk meluncurkan penerus dari mobil sport legendarisnya, NSX, pada tahun 2027. Namun, kali ini, mobil tersebut diperkirakan akan hadir dengan nama yang berbeda, sejalan dengan transformasi besar-besaran yang mengandalkan tenaga baterai sepenuhnya.
Pengumuman ini disampaikan pada gelaran Monterey Car Week di Amerika Serikat, yang menjadi panggung bagi Honda untuk mengungkapkan visinya tentang masa depan mobil sport berperforma tinggi. Wakil Presiden Eksekutif Global Honda, Shinji Aoyama, menyatakan bahwa model baru ini mungkin tidak lagi menggunakan nama "NSX", tetapi tetap mempertahankan DNA khas dari seri NSX yang telah dikenal dan dicintai penggemar otomotif di seluruh dunia.
Rencana ini diperkuat oleh pernyataan Jon Ikeda, Wakil Presiden dan Brand Officer dari merek mewah Honda di AS, Acura, yang pada tahun 2021 menyebutkan bahwa "akan ada NSX lain". Dalam wawancara di ajang Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 di Las Vegas, Mibe menyatakan keinginannya untuk mewujudkan generasi baru NSX yang sepenuhnya bertenaga listrik. Mobil sport ini akan menjadi salah satu dari 30 kendaraan listrik yang dijanjikan oleh Honda untuk diluncurkan sebelum tahun 2030, sebagai bagian dari investasi besar-besaran senilai lima triliun yen (sekitar Rp533 triliun) untuk teknologi kendaraan listrik.
Platform Seri 0 yang menjadi dasar pengembangan mobil sport terbaru ini dirancang dengan fokus pada efisiensi dan performa. Shinji Aoyama menjelaskan bahwa pendekatan pengembangan yang dilakukan adalah menciptakan kendaraan dengan platform yang lebih tipis dan ringan dibandingkan dengan model sebelumnya.
