Dalam membangun proyek rumah di Bulan, NASA digadang-gadang akan menggunakan teknologi printer 3D. Printer 3D itu nantinya akan membangun struktur perumahan berlapis-lapis menggunakan beton Bulan yang berasal dari material permukaan bulan.
Meskipun proyek Olympus ini terbilang ambisius, namun para ilmuan mengatakan Langkah ini sudah berada di jalur yang tepat dengan menggandeng ICON, perusahaan yang membangun lebih dari 400 rumah di Austin Texas menggunakan beton dengan printer 3D.
Kabar mengatakan bahwa mereka telah berkolaborasi dengan NASA sejak 2020 dan dilaporkan menerima $57 juta pada tahun 2022 untuk mengembangkan sistem konstruksi yang menggunakan sumber daya Bulan dan Mars sebagai bahan bangunan.
